Many students want to know what the average day of training is like at AFTC
The course consists of 8 hours average per day. This is split between flight and oral preparation.
Your training is based on a building block of instruction. A normal day will start (at the time of your choosing); preflight and go over the days lesson plan.Following is a 2-hour flight to perform the maneuvers discussed.
Next, a break is taken to go over about 2 hours of ground instruction, discuss the next flight and then execute that flight.
At the end of the second flight there is a post flight discussion to evaluate the day and plan the next day.
You will be constantly briefed on each phase of the day so you fully understand what is expected and your success as you progress. Again we will not be satisfied until you are proficient enough not only to pass the PTS requirements but also to be a proficient Instrument Pilot.
You will also be trained in all the latest avionics, GPS, HSI, PFD, MFD, Glass Panel, DME, Auto Pilot, etc. Whenever possible you will be trained in actual IMC conditions.
What will happen at your Check Ride?
When you are ready for your check ride, we will set up the examiner. Our instructor will accompany you to your to ensure that you are prepared to pass the practical test.
We will evaluate and communicate with you constantly during the days training. We do not, and will not, simply train you to pass your Check Ride; our goal is to see you become the best IFR pilot you can be and able to handle any IFR situation you may encounter. We will train you in actual IFR conditions when available. We want to be there when you experience your first actual IFR conditions. Our job is not complete until you are satisfied that you are a safe, competent and confident IFR pilot.
Our program is not only convenient but Cost- Effective
The national average to obtain your IFR rating is 68 hours.
You will complete AFTC's course in 45hours. That is obviously a considerable savings on money and time.
When you compare the time and costs spent on AFTC Accelerated Program vs. normal 4 or 5 months training you will be amazed at the savings.
We know and appreciate that we have your trust and safety in our hands. We will not abdicate that responsibility. Your safety is our utmost concern. We work with the FAA to train a FITS scenario based lesson plan.
