Accelerated Instrument Flight Rating (IFR) Training
January 15 2011, 11:13am in IFR TrainingObtaining your IFR through conventional training can be a long process. The average pilot needs 68 hours of instruction to complete the requirements and that's not counting delays in aircraft or instructor availability. With our accelerated IFR training you will become fully qualified in just 10 days, even less if you have already had some IFR training. We guarantee it!
"I had my IFR Rating after training at Chino airport, close to my home, in only 10 days as promised."
- Herb CarlsonOur accelerated IFR training course teaches you all aspects of instrument flying, from flight planning to chart interpretation to emergency procedures. We do this by immersing you totally in the knowledge you need to successfully acquire your IFR. This intensive approach is much like you would get from the military or in an airline industry program. They understand what we have known for over 25 years... accelerated training is the most effective method available for learning and retaining what you learn.
When you add an experienced instructor you have a recipe for success. Our team of seasoned, certified professionals has, on average, logged 8,000 flight hours, including many hours of IFR instruction. They realize every pilot is an individual with specific needs. Together, you will design a training regimen that satisfies your unique situation. If you've already had some IFR training we'll simply build upon what you've learned. And, you can receive your accelerated IFR instruction at our facility in Long Beach, California or, if necessary, we can come to you. Call for a free consultation (telephone).
In Long Beach your training will take place in one of our new Cessna 172's which are equipped with either the G1000 or conventional panel. An average day consists of both in-flight and classroom instruction. Your progress will be evaluated every step of the way so you know where you stand and what to expect. We guarantee you will pass the Practical Test standards, even if it takes more training than you've contracted for. Our goal is for you to become a competent and safe IFR pilot.
"...due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to add on much more time than the usual 7-10 day commitment. And you did so willingly, at your time and expense."
- Cheryl HallFor international students, we can assist with your I-20 Visa process and help you book accommodations convenient to our Long Beach facility. Also, today's exchange rates may mean you save money.
Over 50% of our students are veterans of AFTC courses or have been referred by past students. We think it's because we not only offer quality, we offer value, too. Whether you fly for pleasure or profit, AFTC will help you reach your goal of attaining an instrument flight rating.
"After 10 days of hard work, I am the happy holder of an instrument ticket!"

I found the days long but very worth while, great Instruction and a fun atmosphere as well. I am very interested in getting my Commercial Pilot Rating or even a Multi Engine course. If I can get through that then watch out CFI!
