![]() Christopher Rapin “When I contracted with AFTC to finally earn my FAA equivalency after 2500 hours of military flying I expected top notch instruction.
However, I didn't expect the continued support dealing with the FAA after the initial period of instruction was over. I would highly recommend AFTC to anyone looking to start flying, upgrade a rating, or finally get that instrument card. They are true aviation
professionals and one of the most customer service oriented organizations I have dealt with. I would work with them and Bill Fischer again in a heartbeat.” |
![]() Chula DeZoysa “I am from Italy and checked to find the best flight training available. A friend of the family is a retired Air Force Col. and found through contacts, Accelerated Flight Training Center. I took my private training, IFR training and commercial multi training from AFTcenter. The training was great and I got all my ratings and am now enrolled to be a commercial airline pilot. I cannot say enough about AFTC. They not only did great professionally, but took time to help me personally as I was new to this country. |
![]() Chuck Hanson “I give my strongest recommendation to Long Beach-based Accelerated Flight and Instrument Training (AFT Center).
This company is best suited for anyone considering an intensive, short-term, IFR, Multi-Engine, Commercial, or CFI certification. |
![]() ![]() Chris Clark, DDS “You are still a big hero of mine. I just can't believe I have my instrument rating. I get up a lot of mornings and just can't believe I have achieved that goal. You were able to do in a few short days, what several instructors were unable to accomplish in several years. I am so grateful to you for all of your help. I could have saved a lot of money if I had started with AFTC from the beginning.

| Dave O'Neil San Gabriel, CA “I recently completed an exhilerating 10 day IFR rating encompassing a formidable amount of cross-country flying. Throughout it all, Bill Fischer and Jason Lamberton displayed consummate professionalism and impressive knowledge of both FAA & JAA regulations. It was a truly enjoyable and educational experience leading to an extremely smooth check ride for which I was well prepared. As I continue towards my professional career goals, I'm confident in the foundation laid by Jason & Bill. Thank you, and happy landings!” |

![]() Kyle Brady - Tight End #88 of The World Champion New England Patriots He trained on a Cirrus SR22 in Jacksonville, CA - Kyle liked his instrument course so much he came back for his Commercial License. On the 5th day he took his check ride and passed. He is planning to get his CFI next. Kyle writes: “I strongly believe in the “total immersion philosophy of learning”. In addition, my schedule simply didn’t allow for flight training for six months of the year. After 10 days of hard work, I am the happy holder of an instrument ticket. Bill Fischer is a great teacher and made the training fun and rewarding. Thanks Bill” |

Morgan McCarroll earns his Commercial Rating Morgan McCarroll is a doctor from Reno who flew down in his own Bonanza for the training. When he completed his Commercial Rating in one day less than we told him. I gave him a check for the 1 day refund and he was so surprised! He said that most flight training companies he was aware of would just say great and keep the money. Honesty and Integrity is our moto at AFTCenter. Thank you Dr.McCaroll for trusting AFTCenter. |
![]() Adam Smith Adam got his IFR with AFTC in 10 days. He immediately went to Ohio got his plane and was in hard IFR. Did a fine job flying back to Wisconsin. |
![]() “My wife (Victoria above) and I are both IFR Bonanza A36 pilots. We are three-time recurrent students of Bill Fischer at Accelerated Flight Training. We call Bill, schedule a time and he comes to Portland for ten days to make sure we are current in all phases of IFR flight. To us, a big deal is Bill’s knowledge of computer sites and access to various weather and flight aids. Knowing the ins and outs of the web sites saves time and thoroughly prepares you for flight. Upgrading our Garmin 530/430 GPS system to WASS added a new dimension. Bill was familiar with the WASS system. Now we can fly approaches on autopilot to 500 feet above the runway. After going missed, we clean up the landing gear and flaps. A reset of the autopilot flies the missed approach to the holding pattern, and flies the hold! Wow, is that ever an advance in piloting and safety! Bill not only understands flying and instruction, he understands you! He’s a very patient teacher, thorough in his approach, but explains all subject matter clearly in a way that speeds learning. Victoria and I hardily recommend Bill Fischer and AFTC for your instrument rating needs. We love you and thank you for making our pilot lives safe and fun! (Clipper wags his tail, too.) Warm regards Bill” N Kirk Taylor - Executive Vice President |
![]() To Bill Fischer - AFTCenter - our goal: my piloting safety & proficiency and my IPC. My A36 Bonanza is hangered at Portland International, a fairly busy airport, especially now when one runway is closed. Bill’s training and practical guidance helped make me comfortable with all of the communication variables that this environment requires. the tower almost always gave us something unexpected- great training for me. Bill is remarkable in his communication skills, and taught me a professional/ friendly way to talk with all controllers. With his example, I gained the confidence to ask the controllers to help or to request a change of plan or simple say, “unable”. I can so this easily now. The equipment on my Bonanza includes- Garmin 530w & 430, and Bendix/ King KFC 225 autopilot and Audio Panel. I had a great time learning so much about my equipment and using it for navigation and fuel management as never before. Bill taught me to use the equipment to create a cockpit flow, it made my approaches and missed (and we did them all) easier and smooth. It was always fun! If I was in error we did it again, until I had it down. Great patients from Bill. Bill taught me a greater level of the “anticipation skill” - I know this will help me and keep me safe! Bill knows knows a lot about Bonanzas, I know much more about my plane than before my training with Bill. He is experienced, practical and respectful. I look forward to a refresher next year. |
![]() “I searched the internet last year looking for a training facility and found AFTC. I contacted some previous students and got good reviews. I contacted Bill and explained my flying experience and what I wanted to achieve. Within a few days, I had a training schedule and a fixed price e-mailed to me. I immediately booked the flights and headed to Long Beach. 21 days later I’d passed my commercial and IFR. Now I’m back in Ireland flying a Pilatus PC-12.” Brian McCartan from Ireland |

Kemper Ohlmeyer earned his Multi Engine and Instrument Ratings As any pilot can tell you, getting a new license or rating is tough. Matching schedules with a school, dealing with cancellations (both weather and business related), and staying “on track” consistently enough to have every flight push your knowledge and skills forward is near impossible. There is always a reason not to fly and always something you forgot from the previous lesson. As such, we all waste more time learning to fly than actually flying. Bill Fischer’s AFTC program is different. By consolidating all of your learning into a fast-paced, structured environment, you retain more and advance you skills more quickly. The airlines know this, the military know this. Having flown with Bill in pursuit of both my IFR and MEL Ratings, I can say he is one of the finest instructors with whom I have had the pleasure of flying with. His teaching is straight forward, personally uplifting and his ability to meet you scheduling demands are unparalleled. When it is time to fly, do it with AFTC! Best, Kemper Ohlmeyer |
![]() “I was enrolled in a flight school in Fla. and felt that I was not ever going to get my certificate. All it sems was they wanted more money and I heard about AFTC in Californina. I contacted them and enrolled in their program. My goal was to become an airline pilot and I needed the best training I could find. I checked out the references and everyone had glowing comments to make about their training with AFTC. I was also impressed with the confidence they showed with their guarantee. They did exactly what they told me and were very up front with all their dealings. No hidden costs. In less than three weeks training, I got my Instrument Certificate and then my Commercial Multi-Engine Land with the instrument add-on. When I completed the entire program I not only got my certificates, but felt that I was a very competent pilot. I am now enrolled in a pilot program for the airlines and very happy with the training. Thank you Bill” Vikram Randhawa |
![]() “I first met Bill Fischer in the spring of 2002 when I finally decided to get my instrument rating. I had been flying for 11 years and had always put it off because of the horror stories of people who started and never quite finished. I was determined to do it and chose the accelerated method. After making the call, Bill Fischer contacted me and away we went with the mornings training on the desktop simulator and the afternoons training in my Cessna Skyhawk 172 shooting approaches. Bill was the first instructor ever to convey the sense that he wanted to see me succeed and I could tell he wasn’t “off somewhere else” mentally and looking towards his airline career. This, coupled with his trademark friendliness and sense of humor, Bill made those days actually enjoyable. Working with Bill Fischer over these years has been a rewarding and really enjoyable experience. I would heartily recommend him and and AFTC without hesitation. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.” Bill Evans |
![]() Piano Instructor Cheryl Hall received her IFR Rating Dear Bill, Your are responsible for helping me reach a long sought-after goal. It has been a dream since I started flying six years ago to be of service to others with Angel Flight, and more so with an Instrument Rating. You have based your company philosophy on helping others like me who have lost instructors, or were in situations which just didn’t get the job done. After attempting this for three years, I was about to call it quits when you were recommended. Our scenario turned out to be unusual. Your company guarantees the commitment of the instructors time until a client is prepared. But, due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to add on much more time than the usual 7-10 day commitment. And you did so willingly, at your time and expense. You truly cared whether or not I achieved my goal. Your integrity speaks volumes about your company. Thank you for being there for me and making my dream come true. Sincerely, Cheryl Hall |

Mark Atterson earned his Instrument Rating “Bill, thank you for my IFR Rating. You have a unique ability to instill confidence in your students. It was fun flying in a 172 equipped with a G1000; I would recommend that to anyone training for their instrument rating. Flying in Southern California with the mountains and the ocean was awesome. The Training I received exceeded my expectations. It was refreshing to have an instructor of your caliber and integrity who evaluated my performance fairly and helped me to earn my rating in the time contracted. I plan on coming back for my Multi-Engine and Commercial Rating as soon as I build up the hours. Thanks again. I would recommend AFTCenter to anyone seeking their Instrument Rating.“ |
![]() Pilot on the left: Dr.Randyav - Occupation: Engineer for the Los Angeles Water Department Hi Bill, Thank you for helping me train for and pass my IFR check-ride. I am enjoying flying so much more now that I have the ability to make departures and arrivals without the restrictions of VFR. I will recommend my friends to AFTC! Sincerely,
Pilot on the right: Herb Carlson I live in San Juan Capistrano, California and was referred to Bill to train for and complete my IFR Certification. When I started working with Bill, I was sson relieved of any anxiety I had about the process by his calm and thorough teaching style. As promised, I had my IFR Rating after training at Chino airport, close to my home, in only 10 days as promised. I will continue to use him in the future for all of my flight training. I have also sent Bill 3 references and they too were very pleased with his services. Thanks Bill, |

Bill Holmes earns his IFR Rating Bill is from Reno, NV and owns a Cessna C182 Turbo RG. In this case, the AFTC Instructor flew to Reno and they both started their training there and continued it on the IFR flight back to Long Beach, CA. Many AFTC clients make similar arrangements. |
![]() “Bill taught me for the Instrument Rating in 2003, and the Commercial Certificate in 2009. Both were done in “accelerated” style after I had already passed the written tests. The training was tough but stimulating and fun. I can heartily recommend Bill for accelerated flight training. Thank you BIll!” Peter received his IFR in 2002 from our CEO and looked him up to get his single engine commercial at AFTC Feb 19th 2009. Peter did his check ride and training in a TB21. Congratulations Peter! |

Aaron Culbreth recently earned his IFR Certificate It was a three day course and he had over 50 hours of IFR done but needed to finish and complete his check ride. We accomplished this and he received his IFR Certificate after only three days of training. Aaron works with Microsoft in Seattle and is part of the team that does the Microsoft flight simulator program so was very knowledgeable on flight and IFR programs. He had many choices for flight training and he chose AFTCenter. |

Bill, I obtained my Private Pilots License Certificate, the usual way which was through a very qualified and nationally-known flying school. Unfortunately, it took me over a year due to multiple occasions where the schedule had to be adjusted due to my schedule, the instructor’s schedule, or the weather. After, my Private Pilots Certificate, I started training for my Instrument Rating and found that I was gettin frustrated with my progress; therefore, I started to do some research and found AFTCenter. AFTCenter was the last call I had to make. After working with Bill, I finished my Instrument Rating in a Cessna 172 equipped with a G1000 within six days, and completed my Multi-Engine Rating within three days. Even though I own four businesses, I opted to travel to California, where I would not have any distractions. Flying everyday meant that all I had learned remained fresh as opposed to flying once a week and spending one-half a lesson remembering what I learned the previous week. Bill instills the knowledge, eliminates doubts and builds confidence. The completion of the program was extremely rewarding. I rave about Bill all the time to my pilot friends and I would highly recommend him. the experience will remain with me forever. Thanks Bill! |

I had tried two other companies with bad experiences. AFTCenter took me through the program and I obtained my IFR Certificate in 7 days. Thank you AFTCenter.” Message first flight after he got his certificate. Bill, The wife and I took out first IFR flight to the beach on Thursday. Got into the clouds and immediately started picking up ice! Told ATC and they let me climb to 11,000 where I finally got in the clear. Man does that ice build up quick. It was scary but I just remembered what you told me and didn’t panic. Thanks again. Kieth |
